We photographed the house in the hour before the furniture arrived. The rooms were bare — white plaster, concrete floor, one window each — and absolutely complete.

A room is finished when its surfaces are true enough to carry light. Plaster is the material of that truth: one coat too few and the light pools; one coat too many and it dies.

The emptiness was not absence. It was the building finally saying what it had meant all along.
